Be’er Sheva Park Opens – Parkways
Seattle Parks and Recreation and our partners Rainier Link2Lake and Seattle Parks Foundation are happy to announce Be’er Sheva Park is open.
“We are delighted to have this park renovated and open to the public after working hand in hand with the community making their vision a reality,” said AP Diaz, Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent. “We are committed to building high quality and equitable parks that advance the health and wellness of neighborhoods.”
The Be’er Sheva Park renovation project is a multi-phased approach. The most recently completed “Upland” renovation work includes improved waterfront with a hand-carried boat launch, a concrete boardwalk, covered gathering spaces, lighted walking paths, BBQs and picnic tables, a cultural performance stage and artistic signage.
“The Rainier Beach Link2Lake is excited to see the rejuvenated Be’er Sheva Park open for the south end community, who have been engaged with this project for over 6 years,” stated the Rainier Beach Link2Lake Committee. “This jewel has been transformed and the park remains the living room of Rainier Beach. We look forward to the community developing more memories here. ‘Where’s the Beach?’ has been our slogan, and we can now say: “The Beach is HERE for Rainier Beach!”
“Through community members’ engagement, time, and gifts, the Be’er Sheva Park renovation is going to be transformational for Rainier Beach. We are excited to see how this shared space supports the neighborhood for years to come,” said Rebecca Bear, Seattle Parks Foundation, President and CEO.
This park renovation phase opened to the community on January 31, 2024 and is substantially complete with some additional work to be completed prior to the community ribbon-cutting celebration on Saturday, April 13. This includes installation of the community driven artistic art panels, irrigation line work, and working with Seattle City Light on services for the park, along with some final detail work.
The next phase will be the “In-Water” work project which will provide habitat enhancement for the Be’er Sheva Park shoreline to be completed by the end of 2024. The final phase will include installation of fitness equipment and renovation of the play area.
The Be’er Sheva Park project is a great example of public, private partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, Rainier Beach Link2Lake and the Seattle Parks Foundation. Thank you, to the contractor, Wyser Construction, who recently completed the high-quality work and re-opened the park to the community in a timely fashion.
