The Smartest and sharp in emergencies at Natural Disaster Expo 2022

It was Sunday and just a week from Valentines day that we landed at Hotel Belleza in Sunny Miami with my friends and business partners John Yongkyun Kim and Nash Rehmann, only one day before a great show at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

You can see the three amigos the first day of the expo ready to get our badges.

By the way, Araceli Irus, Veronica Regnault, and all the Fortem group did an amazing job to bring the top professionals in emergencies and natural disasters and had an absolutely amazing turnout.

And yes, big, big thanks again to the FORTEM team that worked so hard to put together an amazing event for disaster and emergency response professionals.

On Monday, We also had a great breakfast with Dr. Alison Thompson, Founder of Third Wave Volunteers.

According to Dr. Alison  “The Natural disasters Expo was the right place to meet with high-level disaster professionals from several states and we were surprised to see so many business owners interested to join us with donations and their expertise.

On this picture we have the SOCOM Military ladies and Michael from Lyft with the founder of Third Wave Volunteers.

The same day, We met with Robert McSwain, an Aerospace Engineer at NASA, who spoke about Exploring Opportunities Between Autonomy Research and Emergency Response Operations.

We also said hello to Antwane Johnson, FEMA Director of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), and joined FEMA in August 2009 as Director, Integrated Public Alert and Warning Systems (IPAWS) and led the nation’s first test of the National Public Warning System and Presidential Wireless Emergency Alert System in 2018.

Here you can see some videos and pics from the event

Here are my Take out lessons from the Natural Disaster Expo 2022

  1. Not all people in the world have bathrooms and the same will happen after any emergencies so remember check the video at the end of this page.
  2. Text or email is not enough so Leaders need to get fully familiar to manage all the technologies to alert the public of incoming severe weather, missing children, and other lifesaving messaging.
  3. Connect government Leaders with local and tribal leaders and mobile wireless providers.
  4. General Information and knowledge need to be simple and easy to be understood by all the stakeholders of a community.
  5.  Always keep it easy, so learn to use easy-to-use software to communicate, manage and monitor before, during, and after big emergencies.
  6. Plug and play is the name of the GAME, so buy only plug-and-play solutions to communicate and support your team, easy to use, install and maintain water purifying systems, portable bathrooms, temporary shelters, and debris cleanup.
  7. Think outside your tool kit box, you need to know and explore relationships with trusted vendors that can support you all the way all the time.
  8. Climate change will increase the frequency of flooding, storms, heatwaves, and wildfires so train yourself and build your team.

I have more notes from the show and We are still organizing our ideas but feel free to connect with me any time on LinkedIn

The Natural Disaster expo helped me and my team to get updated on what is needed to protect our community and in the show we were able to connect with real players in Natural disasters from Alabama to Phoenix to Seoul Korea.

I updated my Rolodex with Natural disasters leaders from all over the world, from Australia, Sweden, Canada, China, Spain, Korea, and the Caribbean.

By the way, we met with great business people that were exhibiting directly from Sweden and yes we spoke about ABBA and their new album and the ABBA Museum in Copenhagen.

I did connect with people like Daniel Autovino and Jaime Story, Chief Executive Officer at Travel Desk Inc. who take care of all aspects of travel for Tournaments, Outbound Team Travel, Emergency Preparedness & Corporate groups.

Monday evening we had great wine at the VIP reception and next to the pool we met Curtis Ingalls, CEO of NexGen Sanitation, who is someone you really need to talk if you are serious about disaster response.

Feel free to enjoy our Product Spotlight

As I did mention during and after the VIP reception we had an opportunity to learn about Portable Parties with Curtis Ingalls, CEO of NexGen Sanitation who explained to us that is expanding his business with the P-Pods will change the way you think about port-a-johns.

His innovative product folds down to one-third of the size of a traditional portable restroom and contains a straight drop toilet and urinal with a removable and sealable waste tank.

Large expense PROs incur while serving special events is the transport of the dozens, if not hundreds of portable restrooms to and from the location. The collapsible and stackable P-POD by Advantage Engineering is aimed at making that process more efficient.

When the P-POD restroom is collapsed, it stands one-third the height of a traditional unit. That means companies can transport three times as many units with the same delivery equipment. The design uses a single internal bar to hold it upright. Release the bar and the P-POD folds into its compact position. At 36 inches high in its folded-down position and 160 pounds, it can fit in the box of a small pickup truck.

“It is an ingenious concept, which is what made us so interested in getting into the portable restroom field,” says Steve Hengsperger, the lead engineer at Advantage Engineering. The company manufactures the units using injection molding at its Ontario facility. “We love efficiency and innovation, and this unit was the perfect fit for those concepts.”

“That means the units can be easily loaded and unloaded if a company is concerned about leaving them overnight at a particular event,” Hengsperger says. “The fact that they can be collapsed and locked at night also deters vandalism.”

The units have wide door openings and a spring-assisted door hinge designed for easy opening and closing. Interchangeable and sealable waste tanks are accessible through the back of the unit for no-mess transport and clean-out. Multiple colors are available to match existing restroom inventories.
