The Mill Creek 2 Fire is located 10 miles northeast of Pagosa Springs on the San Juan National Forest in high, remote terrain, leading to the Wilderness. The fire experienced significant growth on Saturday and is now 110 acres. The fire was burning aggressively through a heavy load of mixed conifer and dead and down logs, but has run into rocky terrain to the north, which has slowed its spread.

The San Juan NF Type 3 team is now managing the Mill Creek 2 and Trail Canyon fires. More firefighting resources are arriving daily. Because of the extremely difficult access and safety risks, firefighters are not being sent in to engage the fire. No homes, ranches or private holdings are at risk.
