Just a few quick things to share with you this week!

  • Origin Story Podcast
  • Hear From the Experts on Multisolving & Electrifying Your Home
  • Workshop: How to Be an Effective Local Climate Leader!

Origin Story

I was recently interviewed by the good people over at Brighter Future for their Origin Story series which is about “highlighting the path that planet-driven leaders walk on their journey to create a Brighter Future”.

So in this podcast, I had the tables turned on me and had a fun convo with Sandra Gouveia 🙂

I figured I’d share the audio (our latest podcast episode) and text versions here for those of you who want to hear more about my story and some of the thinking behind Crowdsourcing Sustainability. Hope you enjoy – let me know what you think 🙂

Hear From the Experts on Multisolving & Electrifying Your Home

We had two awesome community events recently. Sharing them here in case you missed them and want to check them out!

Multisolving with Dr. Elizabeth Sawin

Watch this one-hour webinar if you want to learn about the importance of multisolving (taking one action that has many benefits) from one of the world’s best systems thinkers and how to apply it to your climate action.

How to Electrify Your Home “Ask me anything”

We recently had a great AMA with experts from Rewiring America who literally wrote the book on how to electrify your home and are deeply knowledgeable about the current financial incentives in the US. The people from the CS community who tuned in live peppered them with a bunch of great questions about heat pumps, electrical panels, contractors, manufactured homes, what subsidies are available – you name it!

It’s May, and we have a new monthly theme for you!

This month we’re zooming in on the importance of organizing for climate action in your community.

If you’re someone who is taking climate action in your community or would like to start doing so, join us for a workshop with an all-star community organizer from Florida, Katrina Erwin!

Katrina is the co-chair of Miami Climate Alliance’s “Resilient Miami” working group and through her work for the CLEO Institute she has mentored hundreds of young people to become the next generation of climate leaders, helped secure funding for climate initiatives, and helped pass local policies enabling young people to serve as climate advisors in city and county spaces.

In this hour-long workshop, you will:

  • Receive an empowering framework and learn how to effectively engage with your local government and important stakeholders for effective climate action.
  • Learn why local government is such a critical landscape for taking action, and how your wins at the local level have systemic/global impact.

Ultimately, you’ll come away with tools and inspiration to become a climate leader (or a more effective one!) in your community!

Taking action at the local level is extremely powerful. Not only does it improve and protect the wellbeing of your community, but it also accelerates systemic change by showing others what is possible. Your local community is one of the places you have the most influence. You vote, pay taxes, send your kids to school, grocery shop, and work there. The degrees of separation between you and your local government and institutions are likely pretty small, and your voice can have a real impact at this local level.

Acting with neighbors and friends to improve your community has all sorts of mental and emotional benefits as well such as feeling more fulfilled, powerful, and connected to both the people around you and something bigger than all of us.

Sign up now if you’d like to join us! Hope to see you there 🙂

Also, if you’re interested in local climate action and haven’t seen our previous newsletters or podcasts on this topic, definitely check them out:

You can book a time with this link!

Alright, that’s all for now. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day 🙂

Best,

Ryan
