The Coconino National Forest will soon begin implementing prescribed fire projects across all three of its districts.

Information regarding tentative and finalized prescribed fire projects will be posted below to reflect the current status of each prescribed fire project.

Flagstaff Ranger District

Upper Beaver Creek

Tentative dates: Oct. 15-25

Location: In the Stoneman Lake area (map)

Size: Roughly 1,000 acres

Type of burn: Combination of initial entry and maintenance broadcast prescribed fire

Anticipated smoke impacts: Interstate 17 corridor at Forest Road 215 (Stoneman Lake Road and Rattlesnake Canyon), the Stoneman Lake community, the Beaver Creek area and south of Mormon Lake Village.

Closures: None

Goals: This fuels reduction project around the Stoneman Lake community will protect the Apache Maid Cabin rental property. This project will reduce the threat of unwanted wildfire and encourage ecosystem function in Ponderosa pine, pinyon and juniper habitat.
