SOUNDBITE (Farsi) Hassan Bahrami, technical head of Havin-2 team: “When we decided to participate in the competition (American Solar Challenge 2014), we were aware that Iran is under sanctions and there would troubles ahead of us regarding transfer of the car and the team members. We spoke with the person who was our contact there (in the US from Innovators Educational Foundation) and he sent a letter to the US Department of the Treasury informing them that an Iranian team is going to take part in the race. Then we try to calculate what the sun’s angles would be during the eight-day, what time should we stop at the checkpoints and when we should leave them.
