Sean Justin Penn

Sean Justin Penn was born on August 17, 1960, in Santa Monica, California, to actor Leo Penn and actress Eileen Ryan. He is the second of their two sons, the other being actor Chris Penn. Penn's father was Jewish, from a family of Lithuanian Jewish and Russian Jewish descent, and his mother was Catholic, of Irish and Italian descent. Penn was raised in a secular household in Malibu, California.

Penn began his acting career at a young age, appearing in television shows such as Little House on the Prairie (1974) and The Thanksgiving Promise (1978). He made his film debut in 1981 with the drama Taps. Penn quickly established himself as a talented actor, and he received critical acclaim for his performances in films such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), Bad Boys (1983), and Dead Man Walking (1995).
