Solar car built by Iranian students set to compete in US challenge
Iranian students have built a solar car that’s set to compete in an upcoming American Solar as ‘Havin-2’, this flat rectangular vehicle runs entirely on solar energy and can reach a maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour. It was designed and manufactured by students at the University of Qazvin in Iran. The fiberglass vehicle depends on photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity, and run its two engines. The solar car has been test-driven alongside slightly larger gas-powered motor vehicles on a stretch of highway in Iran’s mountainous north. The car is now all set to take part in the American Solar Challenge that will kick off in July and will run for eight days.
